Tuscany Italy

Meet Us in Florence!
When the Greeks colonized Italy more than 2,000 years ago they named it "Oenotria" which means land of the grape. Little has changed over the centuries and Italy remains a paradise for grape-growers, wine makers, and wine drinkers!

Come with us to wander the patchwork of vineyards in Tuscany's region of  Montepulciano and go off the beaten Tuscany path to explore Umbria.

Of course, while we're in the neighborhood we just can't pass by and not make a stop in the world-famous town of San Marino. San Marino is a mountainous microstate surrounded by north-central Italy. Among the world’s oldest republics, it retains much of its historic architecture. On the slopes of Monte Titano sits the capital, also called San Marino, known for its medieval walled old town and narrow cobblestone streets. The Three Towers, castlelike citadels dating to the 11th century, sit atop Titano’s neighboring peaks.

We'll focus on "Super Tuscans", DOCs, and enotecas. From Florence to Siena tasting through hearty reds, whites, and all the Montepulcianos in between. The beauty of the landscape enhances the eminently drinkable wines that pair beautifully with Italy's simple food. Oh, we definitely don't want to forget to look up ... Unforgettable art and architecture is everywhere in this area of the world.

Few wine regions have the instant name recognition of Tuscany, first legally defined in 1716 (but recognized as a wine region as early as the 13
th century). The Tuscany region is the epitome of perfect wine country, boasting some of Italy’s most famous appellations: Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico, Nobile di Montepulciano, Vernaccia di san Gimignano, Carmignano… Wine touring here is not about a five-minute tasting at a roadside wine bar – it is an immersive experience.

Along our exploration see if you notice at some of Chianti’s most acclaimed wines, however, don’t carry its name. Only reds based on the Sangiovese grape can be called Chianti. We'll also be on the look out for ambitious, rule-breaking Super-Tuscans, most often based on international grapes such as Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, carry the humbler IGT Toscana designation.

Vintners near the town of Montalcino make Tuscany’s greatest wine, Brunello di Montalcino, from a local Sangiovese Clone, Brunello.

Tuscany is like a great bottle of wine: lovingly created and carefully aged, and the longer you spend contemplating it, the better it gets. With each visit, you fall a little more in love with its rich hues, unforgettable personality and sheer beauty. The memories linger. Let's Go!
